The Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) is responsible for accurately locating and marking underground utilities within a designated area. This includes providing detailed sketches of the located area to the requester. Using company-provided equipment, DPTs will identify utilities such as gas, water, sewer, fiber optic cables, and electrical lines, mark them using spray paint or flags, and document the findings. Other duties include but are not limited to: Complete Locates: Use electronic devices, including a receiver wand and transmitter, to locate and verify underground utilities. Marking and Documentation: Mark utility and create detailed drawings of the located area. Prepare reports and documentation verifying marked utilities. Health and Safety: Work in compliance with all health, safety, and environmental legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and company policies. Employ a safety-first mindset when engaging with customers and communities. Stakeholder Consultation: Collaborate with contractors, developers, and builders regarding the location of underground utilities.
