About The Position

HDR is hiring a Utility EIT/Coordinator to support utility coordination on civil engineering projects. The role assists with coordination between project teams and utility owners to identify, understand, confirm, and mitigate utility risks. It supports utility records research, investigations, conflict resolution, utility design, plan production, and field coordination during utility relocations. The position also works with civil project teams, engineers, and project managers to meet client needs and objectives, and follows quality assurance procedures for project documents, time, and budget management. The role participates in QA/QC reviews of plans, specifications, and cost estimates and performs other assigned duties. Candidates without an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate will be placed in a Design Coordinator job code and are expected to obtain an EIT for career progression. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a similar field.
Commitment to active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture.
Ability to read and understand civil transportation engineering design plans.
Ability to read and understand utility installation and adjustment plans.
Strong verbal and written communication, organization, attention to detail, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate; candidates without an EIT are expected to obtain it for career progression.
Two years of related experience in the transportation, roadway, or utility industry.
Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD; familiarity and demonstrated experience with highway and roadway engineering software such as Bentley OpenRoads Designer and/or Autodesk Civil 3D.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Familiarity with Autodesk CAD programs such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Familiarity with Bentley CAD programs such as MicroStation and ORD.
Familiarity with GIS-related programs such as ArcGIS and Field Maps.
Familiarity with PDF-editing software such as Bluebeam or Adobe.
Demonstrated external communication skills and experience interfacing with utility providers.
Field experience in construction oversight or surveying.
Basic understanding of real estate principles and ability to comprehend easements and other general documents associated with property rights.

Responsibilities

Assist with coordination between project teams and nearby utility owners to identify, understand, confirm, and mitigate utility risks.
Assist with utility coordination meetings and prepare meeting materials and documentation.
Research utility records, obtain existing mapping and plans, and prepare utility contact lists.
Coordinate and/or assist with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigations conducted by HDR or subconsultants.
Identify utility conflicts on civil engineering projects and communicate findings to project teams and utility owners.
Assist with coordinating utility conflict resolution, including mitigation through project design or utility relocation.
Assist project engineers with designing wet and dry utilities required for proposed civil improvements.
Assist in preparing utility-related client deliverables, including civil project plans and specifications, and prepare exhibits for utility owners.
Coordinate with utility owners and construction management teams during installation of utility relocations.
Coordinate with the overall civil project team, project engineers, and project managers to meet client needs and objectives.
Apply company and client quality assurance guidelines and procedures for project documents, time, and budget management.
Participate in QA/QC reviews of plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Perform other duties as assigned.
