About The Position

This position promotes a clean, safe, and productive learning and teaching environment by performing general custodial services to keep assigned building areas clean and orderly. The role involves maintaining the neatness and cleanliness of the building and its premises, including sidewalks and driveways. Responsibilities include setting up and removing furniture and equipment for school and community events, requiring physical exertion to move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects. The job involves stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, reaching, climbing, and balancing, with work performed both indoors and outdoors year-round in various conditions such as noisy and crowded environments, and around dust, fumes, and odors. The custodian strives to promote the safety, health, and comfort of students, staff, and parents, and promotes goodwill by interacting with the public in a friendly manner. The role also ensures the building is opened and secured as necessary, uses custodial power equipment and hand implements, and ensures cleaning products are used and stored safely. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of general school cleaning problems; methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; push and pull; and talk or hear and smell.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.
  • Must provide proof of employment eligibility (INS I-9 form).
  • Must complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons.
  • Background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.
