Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a construction-related field
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class C California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the district’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification within six months from date of hire
  • Willing to obtain a valid California Class A commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement within 12 months of employment and continue to maintain insurability under the district’s vehicle insurance policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a State of California commercial license at the time of application.
  • Possess a State of California State Water Resources Control Board Distribution Grade 2 -5 at the time of application.
  • Possess their Class A license at the time their application is submitted (for Utility Crew Member II or III).
  • Possess the required SWRCB Distribution Grades 2-5 certification at the time their application is submitted (for Utility Crew Member II or III).

Responsibilities

  • Repair water mains, service lines, meters, hydrants and related facilities using map plats and GIS.
  • Use shovels, digging bars, and pneumatic tools to pothole existing utilities.
  • Set up and remove traffic control devices to protect crews from street traffic.
  • Work a rotating one-week standby shift which includes being available 24/7, weekends and holidays.
  • Work a rotating one-week duty response shift.
