About The Position

This is a standing posting for a UST Compliance Specialist role. Pinnacle adds people to this function as client programs grow. The compliance specialist is the operational core of a storage tank program, responsible for inspections, release detection, vendor dispatch, and deficiency closure. Pinnacle delivers this function as a managed service, ensuring continuous operation for clients. The role requires managing a multi-state portfolio and adapting to different rule sets constantly. The ideal candidate takes satisfaction in maintaining a clean, current, and inspector-ready portfolio.

Requirements

• Documenting work as it happens, rather than reconstructing it later.
• Ability to hold a non-negotiable deadline without losing composure or accuracy.
• Skill in escalating only genuinely critical issues while handling the rest independently.
• Enjoyment of being part of a team and contributing to a positive environment.
• Reside in Florida, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Illinois, Texas, or Arizona.
• Willingness to attend in-person meetings and functions when required.

Nice To Haves

• Class A and Class B operator certification in one or more states.
• Experience managing a multi-site underground storage tank portfolio.
• Familiarity with Titan or a comparable compliance platform.
• Working relationships with state agency inspection and compliance staff.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate regulatory inspections and interact with state agencies.
• Confirm passing monthly results for tank and line release detection, troubleshoot issues, and handle suspected release reporting within the required window.
• Manage compliance activities from creation to closure, including chasing contractors for documentation and triaging needs.
• Track new sites, remodels, acquisitions, closures, and construction escalations, ensuring correct registration, configuration, and documentation.
• Own the day-to-day relationship with client contacts and maintain accurate site-level records in the compliance platform.
• Achieve portfolio command within the first 90 days, understanding sites, tanks, states, and deadlines.
• Conduct a full inspection-readiness pass for assigned sites, identifying and prioritizing gaps.
• Triage the open activity backlog, assessing, dispatching, or closing inherited tasks.
• Obtain or be in progress for Class A and Class B operator certification for all covered states.
• Establish vendor relationships, clearly communicating expectations and timelines.
• Orient client contacts, ensuring they understand your role and how to reach you.
