Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is seeking a User Engagement Lead to support the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in engaging external Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) users and understanding how UMLS and related Health Data Standards are used across the broader Health IT ecosystem. The engagement program will identify user use cases, needs, dependencies, and perspectives on UMLS data structures, formats, functionality, and complexity. Findings will help NLM understand current usage patterns and identify opportunities for improvement and modernization. The position is remote-eligible. The role plans and leads a sustained external user-engagement program, recruits and communicates with a representative range of users and stakeholders, and facilitates structured discussions about workflows and needs. It documents and synthesizes findings, coordinates with NLM staff and subject matter experts, and prepares reports and other materials for NLM stakeholders. The position also tracks engagement activities and supports repeatable methods and processes for ongoing UMLS user engagement.
