About The Position

The Used Vehicle Buyer is responsible for acquiring used-car inventory through direct contacts, generated leads, off-site auctions, dealers, customer internet inquiries, and other available avenues. The role appraises vehicles, evaluates their condition, negotiates prices, makes financially sound purchasing decisions, and ensures purchases are processed on time. The buyer understands retail trends and participates in inventory planning, researches the used-car market to generate leads and appointments, and meets car-buying quotas. The position also requires understanding market trends across geographic areas, developing effective relationships with purchasing venues, and expertise in purchasing, shipping, selling, and stocking vehicles.

This position is with Lithia Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Missoula. The company describes its team environment as collaborative and supportive and offers training programs to support career progression. Candidates must be high school graduates or equivalent and at least 18 years old. The role requires prior automotive sales experience, a valid driver's license in the candidate's state of residence, and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Acquire used-car inventory through direct contacts, generated leads, off-site auctions, dealers, customer internet inquiries, and other available avenues.
• Appraise vehicles and understand their condition.
• Negotiate prices and make financially sound purchasing decisions.
• Ensure timely processing of vehicle purchases.
• Understand retail trends and participate in inventory planning.
• Research the available used-car market to generate leads and create appointments.
• Meet car-buying quotas.
• Understand market tendencies and changes in trends across geographic areas.
• Develop effective working relationships with purchasing venues to accelerate placement of suitable inventory in an expeditious and cost-effective manner.
• Be an expert in purchasing, shipping, selling, and stocking vehicles.
