About The Position

South Dayton Toyota is hiring experienced Used Car Technicians for its busy reconditioning department. The role involves diagnosing and repairing different makes and models accurately, completing maintenance and repair work, and ensuring used vehicles meet safety and quality standards. The dealership seeks skilled, independent technicians who take pride in quality workmanship and can work efficiently without unnecessary oversight. Compensation is $22–$35 per flat-rate hour, based on skill set, experience, and qualifications. Eligible technicians may receive a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000, subject to ASE certification or manufacturer training and certification eligibility and program terms. Payments begin after 90 days of employment at $1,000 per month until the eligible bonus amount is reached. Quarterly bonus opportunities are also available. The schedule is flexible: technicians may choose four 10-hour shifts per week, with three days off, or a traditional five-day work week. The dealership offers a new shop and breakroom, uniforms, personal lockers, steady work, autonomy, paid ASE certification training, and career development support.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of automotive repair experience.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Solid knowledge of automotive systems, equipment, and tools.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work independently and efficiently.
Commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Inspect and diagnose used vehicles for mechanical and electrical issues.
Perform maintenance and repair work.
Replace faulty or worn components.
Ensure vehicles meet safety and quality standards.
Test-drive vehicles to verify repairs and proper operation.
Accurately document all work performed.
Communicate repair findings and recommendations to service advisors.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
