About The Position

McDonald Mazda West is hiring a Used Car Technician to diagnose and repair used vehicles to specifications. The role is based on flagged hours and involves working in a modern, fully equipped service center. The technician will use diagnostic and shop equipment to inspect and repair vehicle systems and explain diagnoses and required repairs to people without mechanical expertise.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
1–3 years of automotive technician experience.
Ability to drive and handle vehicles of various makes, models, and sizes.
Mechanical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
Team-oriented, flexible, and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service.
Working knowledge of shop equipment, including wheel and tire equipment, electrical, engine, alignment systems, diagnostic equipment, and AC equipment.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair used vehicles to specifications using tools such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
Tear down, repair, replace, or rebuild faulty assemblies, including power systems, steering systems, linkages, pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels, and repair manual and automatic transmissions.
Explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to non-mechanical individuals.
