About The Position

JORI Logistics is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their USA Customs Department as a full-time US Customs Writer. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a customer service-oriented approach. The successful candidate will be resourceful, contribute ideas, and collaborate effectively with colleagues across all departments to ensure optimal client service. This is not a standard operational position; it offers the opportunity to be involved in problem-solving and process improvement.

Requirements

  • High degree of data entry accuracy
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and certain weekends
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Customers through phone calls and emails
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience with US Customs Procedures

Responsibilities

  • Entry writing for truck/ocean/air clearances
  • Complete entry summaries of US Rail Customs Declarations for new and existing accounts
  • Problem-solve day-to-day operational issues and entry problems
  • File border entries/ISFs
  • Monitor in-bond movements for in-transit entries
  • Ensure data is entered into Cargowise for transmission of Entry Summary
  • Check EDI failures for rail shipments (especially during the weekends)
  • Provide outstanding customer service when communicating with clients and requesting missing data
  • Perform audit review on all assigned brokerage files and payments to customs
  • Maintain and keep current all customs compliance documentation
  • Process documents through Cargowise, obtaining Customs release and other government agency releases as appropriate
  • Complete invoicing of the import account for services rendered
  • Review and monitor all Customs rejections, requests for information for clients and any other government agency, and correspondence
  • Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations
  • Mandatory daily correspondence with overseas offices
  • Work closely with other departments to deliver a high level of service to customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned
