About The Position

Lynden Logistics is looking for a Customs Entry Writer to support our customs brokerage team in SeaTac, WA. As our Customs Entry Writer, you'll help facilitate the smooth movement of international shipments by preparing customs entries, coordinating with carriers and regulatory agencies, and ensuring freight is cleared accurately and compliantly. This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import documentation requirements, and HTS classification.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis, reporting, and managing large volumes of shipment information.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive shipments simultaneously.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret regulatory publications and shipment documentation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four years of international freight, customs brokerage, or import/export experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TSA Security Threat Assessment (STA) or TSA-recognized equivalent credential.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree, certification, or formal training in logistics, supply chain, or international trade.
  • Previous exposure to ISF filings, OGA entries, or customs compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or shipment management software.
  • Knowledge of duty calculations, customs fees, and import cost estimation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compliant ISF, Customs, and Other Government Agency (OGA) entries.
  • Track and monitor air, ocean, truck, and rail import shipments.
  • Interact directly with regulatory agencies and carriers to secure cargo releases and keep freight moving.
  • Respond to client and foreign agent inquiries and provide accurate shipment status updates.
  • Prepare client invoices and ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.
  • Manage client-specific HTS tables and support proper tariff classification.
  • Maintain complete and audit-ready shipment files, both electronic and physical.
  • Collaborate with customs officials, carriers, customers, and internal operations teams to resolve issues and ensure on-time shipment delivery.
