About The Position
This is a Locum Tenens Physician position in Urology located in Las Cruces, NM. The role involves both inpatient and outpatient coverage, with a shift schedule of Monday to Friday, including half-day clinic or elective OR and inpatient duties. Call coverage is required on nights and weekends with a 20-minute response time. The reason for coverage is supplemental. The facility is a Level IV Trauma Center utilizing Athena for clinic EMR and Medhost for hospital EMR. There is one physician in practice with specialty backup available from hospitalists. Support staff includes 1 MA, 2 office staff, nursing staff, and a Urology tech.
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE)
- Possess a New Mexico (NM) license or be willing to obtain one
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Hospital Privileges Required
Responsibilities
- Provide urology clinic coverage (half-day) including patient consultations and follow-ups.
- Perform elective urology surgical procedures in the operating room.
- Provide inpatient urology coverage, including rounding on active consults.
- Manage phone consults (5-10 per day) and provide beeper call coverage.
- Collaborate with local urologists, nursing staff, urology techs, and hospitalists.
