About The Position

Scout Veterinary Urgent Care is seeking an Urgent Care Veterinarian for its Brookfield, WI clinic. This role involves providing same-day and next-day urgent care appointments, bridging the gap between routine primary care and emergency services. The veterinarian will manage approximately 10-18 patients daily, handling a variety of cases from routine last-minute care to more complex cases requiring in-house diagnostics, treatments, and nursing care. While overnight hospitalization and major surgeries are not performed, minor procedures are common. The role emphasizes empowering doctors to explore comprehensive answers for patients and clients, fostering strong relationships with referral partners to ensure seamless care transitions when needed.

Requirements

Licensed DVM in Wisconsin
2+ years of experience in small animal general practice or emergency medicine
Detail oriented, well-organized and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communicator
Positive, can-do attitude
Willing to engage in judgement free dialog to foster a culture psychological safety
Takes medical excellence very seriously AND knows there is more to life than work

Nice To Haves

Completion of 1 year rotating small animal internship desired

Responsibilities

Deliver superior medicine and an excellent customer experience
Oversee patient triage and evaluation
Provide examination, diagnostic recommendations and treatment to scheduled and walk-in appointments
Provide clear, transparent and prompt communication with clients and referral partners regarding patient status, diagnostic and treatment plans, estimates and follow-up care
Stabilize patients for transfer to a local emergency/specialty hospital, as needed
Develop follow up plans with patient’s primary care veterinarian as needed
Maintenance of referral relationships via communication with care partners
