About The Position

Laurel School seeks talented faculty and staff who will put our students first and strive to make a difference in their lives. We seek to attract faculty and staff who thrive on being engaged participants in our community and are committed to developing young women as authentic learners and leaders. The most successful candidates are solutions-driven, are willing to listen to learn, embrace iteration and practice as a necessary part of the product, see opportunities before problems, and thrive in a fast-paced, forward-thinking educational environment. Laurel lives our mission: to inspire each girl to fulfill her promise and to better the world. We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual, one who cares deeply about the importance of reading and writing and who is interested in exploring how we can teach girls to be courageous, ethical and empathetic through writing and literary study. The candidate must be skilled in the use of various teaching, discussion, and assessment strategies; be willing to teach Upper School courses in English, such as 10th-grade American Literature, AP Literature, AP Language, or other topical electives; and incorporate our Facing History and Ourselves program into course planning. We seek teachers interested in working collaboratively with other Laurel teachers, enthusiastic about the opportunity to design curriculum—including lessons that take advantage of our 140-acre Butler campus as an outdoor classroom—and adept at differentiating instruction. Flexibility, a sense of humor, and a deep desire to be an educator outside of the classroom—working with students in many capacities—are invaluable qualities at Laurel School.
