About The Position

Holy Innocents Episcopal School (HIES) is seeking an Upper School Biology Teacher. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. The Upper School Biology Teacher is primarily responsible for teaching traditional, laboratory-based courses that provide students with a solid understanding of the coursework in the Upper School Science Department.

Requirements

• Previous teaching experience in Science and Biology is required.
• Knowledge of biology and a variety of teaching strategies that promote engagement and understanding of the curriculum.
• Excellent organization, presentation and communication skills.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related field required.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing and safety training required.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct five sections of Upper School Science courses, including on-level and Advanced Placement sections.
• Develop lesson plans and monitor student performance.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional activities and environment.
• Update and maintain student academic records and performance metrics.
• Communicate regularly with parents, students and colleagues regarding student progress.
