About The Position

Mt. Juliet Christian Academy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Upper School Spanish Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching Spanish courses at the high school level, ranging from introductory through advanced levels. The candidate should possess a strong background in world language education, with a focus on developing students’ proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment that promotes communication skills, cultural understanding, and critical thinking. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education with a focus in Spanish, World Languages, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification and compliance with state requirements for world language education.
  • Previous experience teaching high school Spanish or related subjects.
  • Strong proficiency in Spanish, including advanced speaking, reading, and writing skills.
  • Ability to teach multiple levels of Spanish (e.g., Spanish I–IV or higher).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to the school's Christian mission and values.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and language-learning tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and adapt to a dynamic academic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Guide students in developing advanced Spanish language proficiency while encouraging a Biblical worldview.
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans, teaching methods, and assessments for upper school Spanish courses, ensuring alignment with academic standards.
  • Teach a range of Spanish courses, including grammar, vocabulary, conversation, composition, and literature, appropriate to each level.
  • Incorporate authentic materials and cultural studies to deepen students’ understanding of Spanish-speaking countries, traditions, and global perspectives.
  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom culture that encourages student participation, collaboration, and confidence in language use.
  • Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on student performance through various assessment methods, including exams, projects, presentations, essays, and oral proficiency assessments.
  • Prepare students for advanced coursework and potential college-level language study.
  • Encourage and support students' involvement in language-related extracurricular activities, cultural events, and academic competitions.
  • Maintain open communication with parents through our FACTS portal, providing regular updates on student progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Stay informed about current trends and developments in world language education, attending workshops and conferences to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty members to promote a cohesive and integrated educational experience for students.
