About The Position

The Upper, Middle & Lower School Cheerleading Coach will be responsible for coaching the cheerleading program for grades K-4 and 5-11. This role requires availability for after-school practices two to three times per week and for occasional home volleyball and basketball game days. The coach will support and uphold the mission and values of the International School of Texas, maintain confidentiality, and model professional conduct and sportsmanship. Key responsibilities include scheduling practices, monitoring participant fitness, teaching safety skills, communicating with the Athletic Director, and ensuring emergency contact information is available.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • Former cheerleader or coach
  • Knowledge or interest in cheerleading

Responsibilities

  • Coach for cheerleading program grades K-4 & 5-11
  • Availability for after school practices 2-3 times per week from 3:30pm-5pm
  • Availability for some home volleyball and basketball game days between 5:30pm-8:30pm on occasional week day nights
  • Supports and upholds the mission and values of the International School of Texas
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
  • Models professional conduct and sportsmanship while instilling these characteristics within team members
  • Schedules practices in consultation with the Athletic Director
  • Monitors physical condition and fitness of participants and reports injuries to parents and school officials
  • Continually monitors and supervises all activities of the participants at all practices and games
  • Teaches essential safety skills and strategies to student-athletes; monitors safety compliance
  • Follows school policies regarding safety guidelines
  • Communicates with Athletic Director regarding need for early dismissals, field, and gym use
  • Ensures that emergency contact information is available at practices
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
  • Able to instruct athletes about proper strategy, skills, and rules
  • Able to motivate student-athletes to perform optimally as an individual athlete and team member
  • Uses approved, corrective, and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct
  • Required to lift or carry athletic equipment and supplies
  • Required to maintain composure
