About The Position

This 12-month co-op position is for a University Co-Op Student in Stations Engineering, focusing on Electrical aspects. The student will be part of a group responsible for Electrical Arrangement and Basic Layout design and study. Hydro One is the largest electricity transmission and distribution provider in Ontario, serving nearly 1.5 million customers, with a history dating back over 110 years. This role offers professional development in station electrical arrangement/basic layout design, substation project engineering management, power system safety, industrial and company standards, organization, planning, communication, technical writing, cooperative working relationships, independent work ability, and Microsoft applications.

Requirements

  • Discipline: Electrical Engineering
  • Academic Level: Third/Second Year of Electrical Engineering Major
  • Must be enrolled in post-secondary level studies and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term (exceptions made for students requiring a work term to graduate).
  • Valid G driver license is required.
  • Must have obtained a proper work permit and a Social Insurance Number (SIN) if an international student.

  • The student needs to travel to another office or work site.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical Arrangement (EA) and Basic Layout (BL) of substation from 500 kV to 12kV
  • Associated studies of EA and BL design
  • Other station design, for example, lightning, lighting, grounding, AC/DC, Fire protection.
