About The Position

This 12-month co-op position is for a University Student in Electrical Engineering Support, starting in the Fall of 2026. The role is temporary and located in Orillia. The hiring salary range is $2,136.59 - $3,301.53 bi-weekly. Hydro One is Ontario's largest electricity transmission and distribution provider, with a history of over 110 years. The company is focused on exceptional customer service and building safe communities. This position offers exposure to working within the grid control center of a major provincial electricity utility.

Requirements

  • Academic Program: Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Academic Level: 3rd or 4th Year University Student preferred (must be returning to school if in 4th year)
  • Exposure / awareness of Ontario electrical industry, power systems courses
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be enrolled in post-secondary level studies and be returning to full-time studies upon the completion of their work term (exceptions for graduation requirements).
  • International students must have a proper work permit and a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Nice To Haves

  • Programming experience an asset (JavaScript and Python if possible).

Responsibilities

  • Planned outages for the Hydro One Bulk Electricity System.
  • Works with transmission, distribution and telecom work groups, including Construction, Stations and Lines.
  • Contacts major customers as part of the outage planning process, including transmission load customers, generators, green energy producers, distribution lines customers within various thresholds.
  • Assists customers with requests for outages and/or work protection.
  • Creating and running reports and distributing them via email, receiving outage applications and routing them to correct departments.
  • Undertaking special studies under the direction of operators and/or managers.
  • Installation, testing, analyzing, supporting and configuring developing databases and drawings.
  • Work with MS tools – Outlook, MS Office, specifically Excel.
