About The Position

Students hired into Project Estimating will be given the opportunity to learn about the estimating practices around engineering, procurement and construction services to deliver our capital work program. Students will have exposure to planning budgets and execution activities for transmission line and transmission substation projects.

Requirements

  • Discipline: Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering
  • Academic Level: Second or Third year completed.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel is required
  • G-Class driver’s license is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills complemented by organizational strengths and an ability to work both autonomously and as a team player.
  • A strong focus on customers and the need to be customer focused
  • Must be enrolled in post-secondary level studies and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term (exceptions made for students requiring a work term to graduate).
  • International students must have a proper work permit and a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Nice To Haves

  • Occasional travel within the province of Ontario may be required, with overnight stays.
  • Students are to apply to a maximum of 3 co-op positions per term.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing project estimates and monitoring projects during the project planning and estimating phases under the direction of a Project Estimator.
  • Co-Ordinate activities with service providers and stakeholders.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, specifications and presentations detailing project estimates.
  • Complete data analysis to support benchmarking studies.
  • Assist in developing and preparing processes, procedures or methods related to estimating.
  • Liaise with other internal work groups and divisions.
  • Assist in the development of Basis of Estimate (BoE) for estimates to ensure estimate quality and consistency.
  • Prepare project reports as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required.
