About The Position

MaxxSouth Broadband is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Universal Technician I, also described as a Field Service Technician I, to join its Technical Operations team. The role installs and activates fiber and coaxial drop systems from the tap to customers’ homes, including proper grounding, signal termination, and placement of electronics. Technicians educate customers about their home equipment and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and natural conditions. Universal Technician I is the first level in a three-tier progression. The technician is expected to advance to Universal Technician II within three months; advancement requires successful completion of SCTE courses. Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.

Nice To Haves

Formal electronics training, NCTI, or SCTE certification is preferred.
One year of experience in the telecommunications industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute network installations based on customer orders and technical specifications.
Install new connects, reconnects, disconnects, and customer premise equipment, including HD, DVR, and DIG equipment.
Install high-speed data, wireless systems, and fiber-to-the-home equipment, including ONT and streaming devices.
Read and interpret system design maps and blueprints, and document configurations.
Troubleshoot and resolve service issues using diagnostic strategies; test circuits and equipment to verify service.
Operate company vehicles and equipment safely, including ladders and bucket trucks.
Maintain and manage inventory of equipment and supplies.
Follow company policies, including EEO and safety guidelines.
Educate customers on their home equipment.
