Riddle Village, a lifecare retirement community, is seeking a Unit Manager/RN to join our nursing team. The Unit Manager/RN maintains uncompromising quality of nursing care and is responsible for personnel, management, and coordination of nursing service activities for the scheduled working shift, in accordance with established philosophy, objectives, and policies of the facility to ensure safe and efficient resident care. This role involves relating effectively with other shifts for continuity of care and, in the absence of the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing, takes charge. The position requires maintaining current knowledge of Federal, State, and local standards and regulations for long-term care, and assisting in evaluating and formulating policies, procedures, decisions, and solutions related to nursing services. The Unit Manager is responsible for all activities, documentation, monthly reports, and nursing care for the unit they manage, and for informing the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) or the Director of Nursing (DON) of any issues involving nursing activities, documentation, and unusual events of all shifts. This role also involves continuously reviewing nursing staffing patterns, checking attendance, and revising the daily staff schedule as necessary. Recommendations are made to the ADON/DON regarding employee performance evaluations, and participation in the investigation of employee incidents and counseling of employees when necessary. The Unit Manager assists in orientation programs for new employees, supervises the in-service education program, and follows up to evaluate its effectiveness and determine the need for revision of methods and materials. They also investigate and report complaints and are responsible for maintaining the nursing floor according to facility, state, and Federal DOH standards, taking the first line of responsibility for maintaining the unit's readiness for a DOH survey. On-call duties require accessibility via company cell phone on scheduled weekends/holidays, acting as the first contact for nursing staff needing instruction or guidance, and managing all circumstances pertaining to the nursing department and resident care, contacting the ADON and/or DON as needed.
