About The Position

As a Unit Assistant in Radiology at Bethesda North Hospital, under the direction and supervision of the Clerical/Radiology Supervisor or Manager, this position provides essential clerical and patient support services for Imaging Services. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting patients, activating pre‑admitted outpatients, obtaining signatures for consents and NNCs, entering orders and patient information, working within the EPIC and PACS systems, responding to email, phone, and fax requests, performing routine audits of EPIC/PACS databases, and correcting or editing radiology reports as directed. The Unit Assistant may also coordinate patient flow with lead technologists, provide patient observation, assist with patient transport, support patients with personal needs, recognize changes in patient condition and promptly call for appropriate assistance, comply with infection prevention standards, maintain effective communication with interdepartmental team members, and perform other clerical or support duties as assigned based on departmental needs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates knowledge/competency of the hospital information system.
  • Utilizes effective phone techniques following service excellence, HIPPA guidelines, and obtaining accurate information with the appropriate follow through.
  • Maintains accurate records through the completion of all paperwork.
  • Greets all patients, physicians, and staff pleasantly with prompt and courteous service.
  • Demonstrates organizational and communication skills.
  • Coordinates with lead technologists/technologists the flow of patients throughout the department, responsible for patient observation, patient transport and assisting patients with personal needs.
  • Recognizes patient status changes and calls for appropriate assistance.
  • May also require starting IVs.
