About The Position

Lake Central High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Unified Track Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position involves leading and mentoring student-athletes in a collaborative and inclusive environment. The Unified Track program promotes the integration of students with and without intellectual disabilities, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to inclusivity, a background in coaching or athletics, and the ability to inspire and motivate young athletes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience in coaching or athletics preferred.
• Strong understanding of track and field events and training techniques.
• Passion for promoting inclusion and working with students of diverse abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire athletes, fostering a positive team environment.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not currently certified.
• Availability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends during the track season.
• Commitment to upholding the values and mission of Lake Central High School’s athletic program.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement training programs that cater to the diverse abilities of all team members.
• Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
• Foster teamwork and camaraderie among athletes, encouraging positive relationships.
• Collaborate with other coaches, staff, and volunteers to enhance the overall experience for student-athletes.
• Monitor the progress of athletes, providing constructive feedback and support to help them achieve their personal best.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding team activities, schedules, and individual athlete progress.
• Manage logistics for competitions, including travel arrangements, equipment needs, and scheduling.
• Promote sportsmanship and respect among athletes, emphasizing the values of the Unified Track program.
• Attend all relevant meetings, training sessions, and competitions as required.
