About The Position

Meridian High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our Track Program. This seasonal position requires a strong commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the track. The successful candidate will foster a positive team culture, promote sportsmanship, and emphasize the importance of academics while guiding athletes to reach their full potential in Track and Field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Strong knowledge of techniques, strategies, and rules of the sport.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Must pass background checks as required by the school district.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the season.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the track and field team, focusing on skill development, strategy, and physical conditioning.
  • Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring effective use of time and resources.
  • Plan and manage all aspects of the track season, including scheduling, coordinating travel, and managing equipment.
  • Foster a positive team environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship among athletes.
  • Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team progress, expectations, and concerns.
  • Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes and promote a balance between athletics and academics.
  • Collaborate with other coaches and staff to enhance the overall athletic program at Meridian High School.
  • Scout and evaluate opposing teams to develop effective strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines set forth by the school, district, and governing athletic associations.
  • Organize and conduct tryouts for prospective players, selecting team members based on skill, attitude, and potential.
