About The Position

Lake Central High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as a Unified Track Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. This seasonal position is ideal for someone who is passionate about athletics, inclusion, and fostering a positive team environment. The Unified Track program aims to promote social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences for students with and without disabilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience in coaching or athletics preferred.
• Strong understanding of track and field events and training techniques.
• Passion for promoting inclusion and working with students of diverse abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire athletes, fostering a positive team environment.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not currently certified.
• Availability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends during the track season.
• Commitment to upholding the values and mission of Lake Central High School’s athletic program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and implementing daily practice sessions, ensuring all athletes receive proper training and support.
• Help foster a positive and inclusive team culture, encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect among all athletes.
• Work closely with athletes to develop their skills in various track and field events, providing personalized feedback and encouragement.
• Monitor athlete progress and provide timely feedback to the head coach regarding individual and team performance.
• Assist in organizing and supervising team events, including meets, practices, and team-building activities.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and any concerns.
• Attend all required meetings, training sessions, and competitions throughout the season.
• Collaborate with other coaching staff to create a cohesive training program that meets the needs of all athletes.
