Underwriting Internship (Financial Lines)
About The Position
MSIG USA is seeking an Underwriting Intern for its Financial Lines team. The internship provides hands-on exposure to insurance underwriting, including assessing risks, supporting policy decisions, and learning how financial insights inform underwriting strategies. The intern will work with experienced underwriters and collaborate with claims, legal, and finance teams. The position follows a hybrid schedule requiring at least four days in the office per week. The program dates are listed as June 7, 2026–August 13, 2027, with a three-day induction June 7–9, 2027, in Warren, New Jersey. Compensation is $25.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in understanding financial data.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and tackle challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating financial statements, credit reports, and industry trends to assess potential clients’ risk profiles.
- Support underwriting for new and renewal Financial Lines business, including helping determine coverage terms and conditions.
- Analyze reports and industry data to understand how financial insights influence underwriting strategies.
- Collaborate with claims, legal, and finance teams to develop an understanding of underwriting challenges and solutions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and build underwriting knowledge.
