Underwriting Internship (Financial Lines)
About The Position
MSIG USA is seeking an Underwriting Intern for its Financial Lines team. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to insurance underwriting, including evaluating risk, supporting policy development, and contributing to underwriting decisions. The role includes mentorship from experienced underwriters and collaboration with teams in claims, legal, and finance. The program dates are June 7, 2026, through August 13, 2027. A three-day induction is scheduled for June 7–9, 2027, in Warren, New Jersey. The hybrid schedule requires a minimum of four days in the office per week. Compensation is $25.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an interest in financial data.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and tackle challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating financial statements, credit reports, and industry trends to assess potential clients’ risk profiles.
- Support underwriting for new and renewal Financial Lines business, including helping determine coverage terms and conditions.
- Analyze reports and industry data to understand how financial insights influence underwriting strategies.
- Collaborate with claims, legal, and finance teams to understand underwriting challenges and solutions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and develop knowledge of underwriting.
