About The Position

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist for its Manhattan Maternal Fetal Medicine, Cardiac specialty area. Under general supervision, the successful candidate performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including advanced scans, and uses judgment to determine whether imaging is sufficient for diagnosis or additional imaging is needed. The role also involves documenting scans and patient data, preparing reports, and providing clear explanations and privacy to patients.

Requirements

• Registration as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
• Five years of experience in a specialty capacity.
• Completion of an approved ultrasound technology educational program.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

• Fetal Echo certification.
• College graduate.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures under general supervision in a specialty area.
• Alert appropriate medical staff to abnormalities requiring immediate attention.
• Compare present echocardiograms with previous studies to monitor changes in patient status.
• Complete assignments within a realistic time frame.
• Identify oneself to patients and verify patient identity using an ID bracelet or verbal acknowledgement.
• Explain procedures and equipment clearly to patients and maintain patient privacy.
• Write reports based on completed scans and document scans according to departmental procedures.
• Enter, maintain, and record pertinent patient data.
• Use judgment to determine whether a procedure is sufficient for diagnosis or additional imaging is needed.
• Use highly technical equipment to produce scans and conduct procedures.
• Navigate and perform advanced scans using appropriate equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
