About The Position

This role provides comprehensive care to patients requiring ultrasound services in an organized and systematic manner according to departmental policy and standards. The Ultrasound Technologist follows appropriate protocol for ultrasound studies unless specified differently by the Radiologist, and also follows ultrasound protocols for biopsies and other Interventional procedures if required. The technologist assumes accountability for managing delivery of care and patient safety, producing quality diagnostic images for interpretation, and obtaining and documenting patient history and pertinent information. They communicate with attending Radiologists and verify provider orders. The role also involves ensuring exam room cleanliness after each procedure and adhering to infection control standards specific to patient care. Prioritization and organization of work assignments, and adjusting priorities based on changing situations are key. The technologist prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. They must be able to operate/modify equipment and technical factors as needed, ensure equipment is in acceptable condition by conducting routine quality control checks, and follow department standards for reporting equipment malfunctions or problems.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience required; outpatient and/or hospital setting preferred.
  • ARDMS certification in OB/GYN or AB is required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Graduated from an accredited Sonography program.
  • The ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is required.
  • Advanced computer skills including email, Microsoft applications and ability to comprehend and utilize Electronic Medical Record System, RIS and PACS Systems.
  • Ability to travel to satellite locations as needed.
  • Per diem Technologists will typically be needed for 4 shifts within a 6-week scheduling grid.
  • 2 or more of those shifts will occur during the weekend.
  • Must work at least one Holiday per year.
  • Locations are subject to change.
  • Once shifts are accepted and assigned, it becomes the responsibility of technologist to get coverage, if adequate notice is not given.
  • All shift trades or drop requests are subject to manager approval.
