About The Position

Precise Software Solutions Inc. is seeking a UI/UX Developer to design and build intuitive, accessible, human-centered interfaces for secure AI-enabled applications supporting the Government's Enterprise AI Solution Delivery and Support Services program. The role transforms AI capabilities—including chat assistants, document processing, and decision-support dashboards—into trustworthy experiences that meet Section 508 (36 CFR Part 1194) and WCAG 2.1 AA requirements on every release. The developer designs and builds interfaces for AI-enabled applications, dashboards, and workflows, from research and wireframes through prototypes, interaction and visual design, and production front-end code. The role works with AI engineers and product owners in two-week Agile sprints using Government-approved repositories and tools, and communicates design decisions and research findings to internal and external stakeholders. It also involves usability assessment, accessibility testing and remediation, and preparation of training materials and release documentation.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and front-end concepts, including React-based micro frontend architecture, sufficient to collaborate closely with developers.
  • Proficiency in Figma or Sketch.
  • Strong experience with wireframing, user flows, and design systems.
  • Experience designing user experiences for AI products such as chat assistants, RAG search, or agentic workflows.
  • Demonstrated Section 508/WCAG 2.1 A and AA conformance work, screen reader or assistive technology testing, and usability testing with documented, measurable design improvements.
  • Working understanding of AI-governance boundaries for federal systems, including when AI output requires human review or approval before regulatory or operational action.
  • Experience working on Agile teams with Git and Jira.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Human Factors, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on UI/UX design experience.
  • Portfolio demonstrating accessible, research-driven design.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with low-code/no-code platforms and their design constraints.
  • Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3 or Chart.js and dashboard design.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build UIs for AI-enabled applications, dashboards, and workflows, including research, wireframes, prototypes, visual and interaction design, and production front-end code.
  • Independently develop, test, and deploy modules that share a common design system and align with USWDS and agency standards.
  • Design for SSO/MFA-aware, role-based access at the application entry point.
  • Design AI-specific user experiences, including intelligent search and ranking by role and context, inline contextual help at decision points, and natural-language query interfaces.
  • Design human-in-the-loop review screens for approving, overriding, rejecting, or escalating AI outputs with documented rationale, reflecting governance boundaries between delivery-assistance AI and governed production AI functionality.
  • Meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA requirements; support automated accessibility testing, track findings through remediation, test with assistive technology using DHS Trusted Tester methods, and prepare an ACR/VPAT for each release.
  • Conduct usability assessments and track findings as non-functional requirements in Jira.
  • Review existing screens and workflows for usability and accessibility gaps; validate priority user journeys with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders.
  • Communicate design decisions, research findings, and progress to internal teams and external stakeholders, including government customers, state and agency partners, and end users.
  • Develop training materials, including user guides, job aids, and release notes.
  • Work in two-week Agile sprints with AI engineers and product owners using Government-approved repositories and tools.
