The UI/UX Designer contributes to the design of immersive learning experiences for Mayo Clinic College of Medicine & Science. Working with UX researchers, educators, clinical subject matter experts, simulation staff, 3D artists, medical illustrators, animators, XR engineers, developers, and other content specialists, the designer researches user needs and develops visual and interaction approaches for applications such as AI-driven virtual-patient simulations, interactive 3D anatomy experiences, and patient-focused learning apps. The work emphasizes usability, trust, clinical accuracy, accessibility, and inclusive, user-centered design. The position contributes throughout the design process, from wireframes and multi-size mockups to interactive prototypes, conversational AI interactions, design specifications, and review of final products. The designer applies UX research findings and Mayo Clinic brand identity to design patterns, navigation, interaction schemes, and digital storytelling, while accounting for technical feasibility and performance. Work may involve spatial interaction, comfort and motion-sickness considerations, XR interaction methods, and XR accessibility. The designer also works with content contributors to create immersive experiences and builds familiarity with a learning management system. The role requires persuasive communication about design decisions and their relationship to user and business objectives, strong relationship-management skills, emotional intelligence, and collaboration with a close-knit team. The position requires on-site presence, with flexibility to work from home as needed during the week once oriented. The employee must live within a 100-mile driving distance of the Rochester Mayo Clinic campus. Visa sponsorship is unavailable, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
