The multi-modality Radiology Technologist performs CT/XR procedures for radiological diagnosis or treatment of patients, using injection skills as needed, and other related techniques to produce images for interpretation by a radiologist or other credentialed specialist. The role involves operating highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images, performing IV contrast injections, and potentially scheduling and registering patients. The technologist will maintain patient files, evaluate, prepare, position, and observe patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience, and safety. They must comply with all Carilion Clinic and Imaging policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Additionally, the role may involve training students and staff, interpreting information to identify patient requirements, and providing care per applicable policies. The technologist will interact with patients, families, visitors, and the healthcare team to develop, coordinate, and manage the plan of care, working with physicians and other healthcare providers. There is a possibility of providing care at other Carilion facilities to meet patient needs.
