About The Position

The multi-modality Radiology Technologist performs CT/XR procedures for radiological diagnosis or treatment of patients, using injection skills as needed, and other related techniques to produce images for interpretation by a radiologist or other credentialed specialist. Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology, other associated imaging technologies, or other approved training in Computerized Tomography, Angiography, Diagnostic Radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasound.
  • ARRT registry, registry eligible or other required certifications per modality.
  • If not registered in CT, must become CT registered within 2 years of hire date.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required.
  • Modality specific registries are required to be obtained within 24 months for Mammography, Breast Ultrasound, and MRI (or advanced MRI certification within 2 years).
  • Interpersonal, technical skills and flexibility in assignments.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Good computer and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CT experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT/XR procedures for radiological diagnosis or treatment of patients.
  • Use injection skills as needed.
  • Produce images for interpretation by a radiologist or other credentialed specialist.
  • Operate highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images.
  • Perform IV contrast injections and other skills as required.
  • May schedule and register patients.
  • Maintain patient files.
  • Evaluate, prepare, position and observe patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience and safety.
  • Comply with all Carilion Clinic and Imaging policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Train students and staff as assigned.
  • Interpret information needed to identify patient’s requirement relative to specific needs and provide care per applicable policy and procedures.
  • Interact with patients, families, visitors and all members of the healthcare team to develop, coordinate and manage the plan of care.
  • Work with physicians, other healthcare providers and patients.
  • May provide care at other Carilion facilities to meet patient needs.
