About The Position

The multi-modality Radiology Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures for radiological diagnosis or treatment of patients, using injection skills as needed, and other related techniques to produce images for interpretation by a radiologist or other credentialed specialist. Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology, other associated imaging technologies, or other approved training in Angiography, Diagnostic Radiology, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasound.
  • ARRT registry, registry eligible or other required certifications per modality as listed.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required.
  • If not registered in CT, must become CT registered within 2 years of hire date.
  • Mammography must obtain registry within 24 months.
  • MRI Technology: Certified/registered by the ARRT in MRI or certified/registered in an Imaging profession by the ARRT, NMTCB or ARDMS or a candidate for the MRI advance certification by meeting the ARRT candidate requirements (2 years to complete advanced MRI certification).
  • Breast Ultrasound must obtain registry within 24 months.
  • Interpersonal, technical skills and flexibility in assignments.
  • Must be able to function independently.
  • Must have good computer and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CT experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of technical procedures for radiological diagnosis or treatment of patients, using injection skills as needed, and other related techniques to produce images for interpretation by a radiologist or other credentialed specialist.
  • Operates highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images.
  • Performs IV contrast injections and other skills as required.
  • May schedule and register patients.
  • Maintain patient files.
  • Evaluates, prepares, positions and observes patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience and safety.
  • Complies with all Carilion Clinic and Imaging policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Trains students and staff as assigned.
  • Interprets information needed to identify patient’s requirement relative to specific needs and provides care per applicable policy and procedures.
  • Interacts with patients, families, visitors and all members of the healthcare team to develop, coordinate and manage the plan of care.
  • Works with physicians, other healthcare providers and patients.
  • May provide care at other Carilion facilities to meet patient needs.
