About The Position

The multi-modality Radiology Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures for radiological diagnosis or treatment of patients, using injection skills as needed, and other related techniques to produce images for interpretation by a radiologist or other credentialed specialist. This role involves operating highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images and performing IV contrast injections and other skills as required. The technologist may also schedule and register patients and maintain patient files. Responsibilities include evaluating, preparing, positioning, and observing patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience, and safety, while complying with all Carilion Clinic and Imaging policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. The position also involves training students and staff as assigned, interpreting information to identify patient’s requirements, and providing care per applicable policy and procedures. The technologist will interact with patients, families, visitors, and all members of the healthcare team to develop, coordinate, and manage the plan of care, working closely with physicians, other healthcare providers, and patients.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology, other associated Imaging technologies, or other approved training in Computerized Tomography.
  • AARRT registry, registry eligible.
  • Must become CT registered within 2 years of hire date if not already registered in CT.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required.
  • Interpersonal, technical skills and flexibility in assignments.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Good computer and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CT experience strongly preferred.
