About The Position

The Tutor provides professional instruction to support students’ academic, social, physical, and skill development in specific grade or subject areas and help prepare them to become successful citizens and workers. The role supports students receiving tutoring services, reinforces classroom instruction, and collaborates with teachers to provide learning and routine support.

Requirements

Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, or at least two years of college (minimum 48 semester hours), or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test.
Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Generate tutoring plans for each student, detailing individual goals and suggested enrichment activities for home and school; assess and document student progress.
Develop and assist students with academic exercises and class activities, working with small groups and individual students as necessary.
Compile, prepare, and organize instructional materials and the classroom for learning activities.
Reinforce knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
Assist the teacher with academic instruction and instruction in daily routines, skills, and concepts as needed.
Provide instructional support and reinforcement to students identified as needing tutoring services.
Use effective instructional practices, behavior-management strategies, assessment techniques, and directed teaching methods.
Collect and compile statistical data as needed for accountability and program development.
Collect, organize, and complete information needed for reports and evaluations.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with the teacher.
