About The Position

Assist middle and high school students in grades 6–12 with tutoring across a range of academic subjects, including math, science, languages, language arts, history, test preparation, economics, and psychology. The Tutor supports homework, lessons, exam preparation, enrichment, and students who need to catch up in school subjects. The role assesses students’ support needs and difficulties, encourages their academic development and positive relationship with learning, and contributes to a friendly, productive environment that promotes collaborative study strategies. Group tutoring may be required. The position requires at least two Achievement Center sessions and at least eight hours of work per week, and may include private tutoring sessions as needed.

Requirements

• Commit to at least 8 hours of work per week.
• Demonstrate full mastery and experience in the subject area.
• Have excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Suite applications.
• Relate effectively to adolescents to provide content support.
• Deliver material enthusiastically.
• Differentiate instruction and think creatively.
• Demonstrate strong logic skills and command of content vocabulary.
• Perform accurate and consistent data entry.
• Demonstrate moral and ethical responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students in grades 6–12 in relevant academic disciplines.
• Manage group tutoring when needed.
• Support students’ development and motivate them to build a positive relationship with learning.
• Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment.
• Model and encourage collaborative study strategies.
• Help students with homework, lessons, exam preparation, and enrichment.
• Assess students’ support needs and difficulties.
• Help students catch up in subjects where they have fallen behind.
• Work a minimum of two Achievement Center sessions per week.
• Provide private tutoring sessions as needed.
