About The Position

The Tunnel Operator operates tunnel washer systems to wash and dry soiled linen according to customer specifications and Crown Linen practices. The role also operates the Future-rails system and uses tunnels, presses, shuttles, conveyors, and dryers to meet customers’ production needs. The operator prepares laundry for processing, maintains equipment and work areas, and helps ensure production flow and linen processing accuracy.

Requirements

• One year of laundry experience, or a combination of computer education and experience.
• Intermediate to advanced computer literacy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
• Intermediate English communication ability to understand oral and written instructions.
• Strong analytical skills to understand production flow requirements, including input/output procedures.
• Ability to work at a fast pace and with little supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate the computer system that runs tunnel washers and shuttle systems, including understanding their operation and analyzing issues.
• Identify different types of linen and match them to customer account codes to minimize processing errors.
• Keep tunnels, presses, MLA systems, and the workstation clean and safe.
• Prepare laundry for processing through assigned work in Multi-sort/Trans-Sort, Tunnels/Dryers, Future-rail, and MLA areas.
• Operate MLA systems to manually enter soiled laundry when required.
• Open bundles of soiled laundry push bags as needed to maintain workflow in other production areas.
• Maintain tunnel performance and transfers according to Crown Linen standards.
• Report mechanical issues to Management and the Maintenance Department.
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
