Production Tunnel Operator
About The Position
The Production Tunnel Operator works as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility and is responsible for the safe, expeditious, and accurate handling of merchandise into and/or out of the facility. The role prepares a work station, transfers hangers to garment-hanging aids, and handles shirts and pants for placement on an open conveyor pick. The operator identifies garments that do not meet specified quality standards and marks items requiring repair. The position also maintains a safe and clean work environment and follows best practices in production activities.
Requirements
- Ability to understand required training and written and verbal instructions.
- Working knowledge of basic math skills.
- Good verbal and/or written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet the attendance schedule.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions throughout an entire shift.
- Ability to bend, reach, pull, twist, and lift.
- Ability to use hands for grasping and other manipulations.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
Nice To Haves
- High school degree or equivalent preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the work station.
- Transfer hangers from the hanger rack to shirt or pant hanging aids.
- Hang shirts by placing them on hangers and pulling out sleeves as needed.
- Hang pants by preparing and positioning them on the hanger aid and removing them from the aid.
- Identify merchandise needing repair due to tears, holes, stains, ink spots, torn or worn labels or emblems, or missing buttons, and apply a twist tie to the item's hanger.
- Ensure garments are placed on an open conveyor pick.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment and observe production best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
