About The Position

Each Tune Shop Staff member plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by providing high-quality ski and snowboard tuning, repairs, and rental fleet maintenance safely, accurately, and promptly. Team members are expected to communicate professionally with guests and fellow employees, collaborate, and consistently deliver outstanding service while providing knowledgeable equipment recommendations and instruction. Technicians should possess modern knowledge of ski and snowboard tuning techniques, understand the evolution of equipment technology, and have experience operating manual tuning tools, servicing snowboard bindings, and checking base and side edges using files and file guides. Knowledge of Mt. Bachelor terrain is preferred. Employees must follow all safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment when working with tuning machines, power tools, chemicals, and hand tools. This position is primarily indoors and requires extended periods of standing, bending, pushing, and reaching. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, teamwork, and a commitment to producing high-quality tunes with efficient turnaround times are essential to the success of the Tune Shop.

Requirements

  • Able to pass binding certification and indemnity tests for four major manufacturers.
  • Understand and perform modern ski tuning techniques.
  • Able to push, pick up, and drag 70 lbs.
  • Must have experience with or functional knowledge of the following equipment: Alpine skis & boots, Alpine Touring skis & boots, Telemark skis & boots, Alpine snowboards, and Alpine Touring snowboards.
  • High School or Equivalent Required.
  • 1 year or 2 seasons as tuning/repair shop employee with exposure to guest service.
  • Ability to shovel snow and walk on steep and uneven surfaces.
  • Minimum Age Requirement: 18+

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Mt. Bachelor terrain is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to guests and employees.
  • Conduct rental ski and snowboard repair and maintenance daily.
  • Obtain certifications from all binding manufacturers and mount and adjust guest ski bindings daily.
  • Intake of guest equipment; evaluating, recommending, documenting, and preparing equipment for services.
  • Facilitate an informative equipment return process by explaining services performed and equipment function.
  • Follow proper release of liability procedures.
  • Perform regular fleet inspection and necessary fleet maintenance services such as rental ASTM testing.
  • Basic ski/board service and maintenance may include: superficial and integrity base repairs, flattening bases, structuring bases, edge tuning, waxing, binding repair, and binding testing.
  • Operate a cash register with great accuracy
  • Handle cash deposit drops as needed.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures accurately
  • Perform daily/weekly machine cleaning, maintenance, and record keeping
  • Add value to the department by being a great teammate and helping in rentals as needed.
  • Be able to stand for up to 10 hours a shift.
  • Provide technical assistance to Rental Shop when needed, snow removal projects, moving outdoor ski racks, and all other duties assigned.
