About The Position

Wattpad is a leading global webnovel platform, part of WEBTOON Entertainment's IP & Creator Ecosystem, with approximately 155 million monthly active users. The Trust and Safety team is expanding and seeking passionate, motivated professional contractors to protect user experience. The Intellectual Property domain focuses on enforcing the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) by determining the validity of notices and taking necessary actions. Contractors will become subject matter experts in investigating copyright infringements, conducting platform searches, and occasional project-based work. The role may involve indirect exposure to traumatic content and harmful user behaviors, requiring open communication about well-being with a manager to prevent Compassion Fatigue and/or Vicarious Trauma. This is an independent contractor role.

Requirements

• Good understanding of copyright law (Canadian and US)
• Experience answering user reports
• Ability to be agile
• Commitment to give and receive feedback with empathy and in a timely manner
• Comfortable doing monotonous work daily

Nice To Haves

• Technical knowledge and familiarity with Zendesk and Google Suite are assets, but not strictly necessary

Responsibilities

• Contribute equitably to the zeroing of specified Zendesk buckets daily and completion of daily queues in team-specific tools.
• Contribute equitably to the handling of staff escalations.
• Conduct objective, fair, thorough, evidence-based, unbiased, and timely investigations into reported cases of copyright infringement.
• Understand and enforce Wattpad’s Terms of Service and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
• Escalate reports to relevant teams within Wattpad when needed.
• Identify trends and current events to assist with strategy adjustments, policy research, and analysis.
• Work with the rest of Trust & Safety and Community Support teams to track and resolve bugs and other technical issues.
• Dynamic and stretch responsibilities can change and evolve as the team and business needs shift, to be determined by the Team Manager/Director/Head.
• Each contractor may have different responsibilities based on team and business needs and/or Domain gap.
• Ticket numbers will be defined on an individual basis by your domain manager.
