[Wattpad] Trust & Safety Contractor (Independent Contractor)
About The Position
Wattpad is seeking passionate, motivated professional contractors for its expanding Trust and Safety team, specifically within the Intellectual Property domain. This role is crucial for enforcing the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) by evaluating the validity of copyright infringement notices and taking appropriate actions. Contractors will also play a key role in enforcing Wattpad's Community Guidelines. The position involves becoming a subject matter expert in investigating alleged copyright infringements on the Wattpad platform, conducting active platform searches for infringing works, and undertaking occasional project-based work. The company emphasizes the importance of contractor wellness, acknowledging the potential indirect exposure to traumatic content and harmful user behaviors. Open communication with management regarding feelings and mental health is expected, with a focus on preventing Compassion Fatigue and Vicarious Trauma.
Requirements
- Good understanding of copyright law (Canadian and US)
- Experience answering user reports
- Ability to be agile
- Commitment to give and receive feedback with empathy and in a timely manner
- Comfortable doing monotonous work daily
Nice To Haves
- Technical knowledge and familiarity with Zendesk
- Technical knowledge and familiarity with Google Suite
Responsibilities
- Contribute equitably to the zeroing of specified Zendesk buckets daily.
- Contribute equitably to the completion of daily queues in team-specific tools.
- Handle staff escalations.
- Conduct objective, fair, thorough, evidence-based, unbiased, and timely investigations into reported cases of copyright infringement.
- Understand and enforce Wattpad’s Terms of Service and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
- Escalate reports to relevant teams within Wattpad when needed.
- Identify trends and current events to assist with strategy adjustments, policy research, and analysis.
- Work with the Trust & Safety and Community Support teams to track and resolve bugs and other technical issues.
- Undertake dynamic and stretch responsibilities that may change and evolve as team and business needs shift, as determined by the Team Manager/Director/Head.
- Perform different responsibilities based on team and business needs and/or Domain gap.
- Manage defined ticket numbers on an individual basis by the domain manager.
