About The Position

This role involves exercising a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, engaging in a broad spectrum of projects to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency within the logistics process. The Trucking Manager will establish transparency and accountability within the trucking department and with cross-functional teams. This position is responsible for promoting new technology, developing future strategy for the department, building logistics supply chains, managing trucking contracts, and owning and managing the logistics asset fleet. The role also includes building financial plans, holding the team accountable to cost targets, securing buy-in from stakeholders, leveraging cross-functional teams for improvement, and traveling to partner locations to provide leadership and oversight of trucking operations. Data analytics will be utilized to support project planning, monitor performance, and identify trends.

Requirements

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to effectively listen and engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain attentiveness to detail and accuracy throughout involvement in multiple projects without losing sight of goals and deadlines.
  • Excellent organization skills to drive topics with multiple stakeholders/interests.
  • Experience working with TMS and being able to recommend a clear Technology path forward.
  • Experience building, setting up Power BI Reports and tracking KPI’s
  • Problem solving skills that aim to remedy and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Comfortable escalating issues while maintaining positive relationships with team members and other organizations.
  • Able to exercise appropriate discretion when handling confidential and/or sensitive information.
  • Strong understanding of contract management, trucking and DOT regulations, and fleet operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Operations Management, Engineering or a related field required
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in trucking, transportation, logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations, including increasing levels of responsibility
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of leadership or management experience overseeing drivers, transportation teams, dispatch, logistics operations, or similar functions preferred
  • Experience managing fleet operations, transportation scheduling, routing, dispatch, and delivery coordination preferred.
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, precast concrete, heavy haul, or oversized-load transportation is a plus
  • Builds strong relationships; engages and motivates teams representing diverse backgrounds and viewpoints; exceptionally collaborative.

  • Display willingness and interest in stepping up into greater leadership role if the situation requires or the opportunity presents itself.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with staff, projects and proprietary information.
  • Engage in a broad spectrum of projects with impact throughout the logistics process to identify, address, improve, and sustain operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Establish transparency and accountability within the trucking department and with the cross-functional team members who engage in the logistics process.
  • Promote new technology and provide the expertise needed to help drive results through training and mentoring.
  • Develop strategy for the future of the department and how it can successfully integrate into the larger goals of the company.
  • Build logistics supply chain and manage trucking contracts, including sourcing, negotiating, and executing.
  • Own and manage the logistics asset fleet, including forecasting needs and ensuring availability to meet business demands.
  • Build financial plan and hold team accountable to hitting key cost targets.
  • Secure buy-in from key internal stakeholders through effective and efficient communications and relationships.
  • Leverage cross-functional, agile teams and project groups to identify and address opportunities for improvement.
  • Travel to Clark Pacific and partner locations as needed to provide leadership, oversight, and management of trucking operations and teams across multiple sites.
  • Utilize data analytics, internal data and trends to support project planning, monitor performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support project objectives and decision-making.
