About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL regional truck driver in Marion, Virginia. The driver delivers freight solo to locations east of Kansas using a sleeper tractor and 53-foot dry van, curtainside, or flatbed trailers. Freight consists of molding and building products and is touch freight. Load securement may involve straps, bungee cords, and a tarping machine on site. Flatbed experience is a plus. The position pays weekly, with stated earnings of $1,860 per week. Compensation includes solo mileage pay of $0.62 per mile for dry van or curtainside and $0.67 per mile for flatbed, based on 2,500–3,000 miles per week; stop pay of $19.05 per stop for 3–7 stops per week; quarterly safety bonuses; sign-on and loyalty bonuses; and paid training. Drivers are scheduled Sunday through Friday with an AM dispatch start and are away from home 4–5 nights per week. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The company describes drivers as having autonomy to make safety decisions and says their jobs are protected. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background and motor vehicle check, DOT physical, and Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Undergo any additional screening required for an assignment, which may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
