About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A Truck Driver in Newville, Pennsylvania. This is a solo home-daily/regional driving position delivering touch-freight office supplies across Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York (excluding boroughs), Virginia, West Virginia, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, and Ohio. Drivers use sleeper tractors with automatic transmissions, 53-foot dry van trailers, and manual pallet jacks. Ryder provides training on required equipment and operates trucks described as 36 months or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Pay includes a $1,550 weekly guarantee, solo mileage pay of $0.64 per mile with 1,000 or more miles per week, stop pay of $15 per non-touch stop and $40 per touch stop, and a quarterly safety bonus of $500. Paid training and a per diem of $25 per night out are offered; drivers have one to two nights out per week. Schedules are Sunday through Thursday or Monday through Friday, with dispatch between 3:45 PM and 8:00 AM. Ryder offers medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days; PTO accrual beginning on the first day, with up to 80 hours accrued in the first year; uniforms, a cell phone, and a boot allowance; a 401(k) rollover and company match after one year; 12 weeks of paid maternity leave subject to eligibility criteria; employee discounts; and referral bonuses of up to $1,500 for each hired driver. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history with previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: nine months within the past three years, or two years within the last five years, or five years within the last ten years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional employment or education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
