About The Position

Ryder is hiring a solo regional Class A CDL truck driver in Winchester Salem, NC. The role delivers freight east of Kansas, with a schedule of Sunday through Friday and an AM dispatch start. Drivers typically travel 2,500–3,000 miles per week and stay out four to five nights per week. Pay is weekly, with a stated figure of $1,860 per week, mileage rates of $0.62 for dry van or curtainside and $0.67 for flatbed, and $19.05 per stop for three to seven stops per week. Additional compensation includes quarterly safety bonuses, sign-on bonuses, loyalty bonuses, and paid training. The driver operates a sleeper tractor and hauls 53-foot dry van, curtainside, or flatbed trailers carrying molding and building products. Freight is touch freight; load securement uses straps and bungees, with a tarping machine on site. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and access to fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Flatbed experience is a plus. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: at least 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
