About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL solo regional truck driver based in Irwindale, California. The driver delivers food-grade products to locations in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Oregon, and Washington, using a tandem-axle sleeper tractor and a 53-foot refrigerated trailer. Freight handling is touch freight. The position includes 4–5 nights away per week, a Wednesday–Sunday schedule, and a dispatch start time between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The driver is paid hourly, with weekly pay, overtime, per diem, paid training, and a sign-on bonus. Ryder provides trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and access to fueling at more than 800 maintenance locations nationwide. Ryder will train drivers on the equipment needed for the role. Drivers make safety decisions and are supported by the company throughout their career.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
The position cannot accommodate an auto restriction.

Responsibilities

Deliver freight solo to destinations in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Oregon, and Washington.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
