About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Detroit, MI — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. This position offers a weekly average pay of $1843, with top earners making $2000 per week. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a start time between 3:00 AM and 8:00 AM. A sign-on bonus of $2000 is paid at 30 days and another $2000 at 90 days. Additional bonuses include a retention bonus of $2000 at 6 months and a safety bonus paid in increments of $1500 at 3, 6, and 9 months. Drivers will deliver SOLO to OH, MI, IN, PA, WV, MS, AL, GA, IL, TN, AR, SC, NC, MN, and Upstate NY. The route is local home daily and regional with up to 3 nights out per week. The tractor type is a Straight Tanker/Sleeper Cab, and the trailer type is a Liquid Tanker Trailer (28’ & 48'). Freight is touch, meaning the driver will connect hoses and pressurize the trailer with assistance. Ryder will provide training on all necessary equipment. A Tanker endorsement is REQUIRED, and Hazmat is preferred (Ryder will assist in obtaining it). A passport or enhanced DL may be needed to enter Canada. FAST Pass is preferred.

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
• Tanker endorsement REQUIRED
• Must have PASSPORT or ENHANCED DL to possibly enter Canada

Nice To Haves

• Hazmat endorsement preferred
• FAST Pass preferred

Responsibilities

• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
• Performs other duties as assigned
