About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL solo regional truck driver based in Roanoke, Virginia. The driver delivers freight east of Kansas using a sleeper tractor and 53-foot dry van, curtainside, or flatbed trailers. Freight includes molding and building products, and the work involves touch freight and load securement using straps, bungees, and tarping; a tarping machine is available on site. Flatbed experience is a plus. The schedule is Sunday through Friday, with an AM dispatch start time and 4–5 nights out per week. Drivers typically travel 2,500–3,000 miles and make 3–7 stops per week. Pay is weekly, with advertised earnings of $1,650 per week. Mileage pay is $0.55 per mile for dry van and $0.62 per mile for curtainside, plus $19.05 per stop. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, motor vehicle check, and DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A tractor-trailer or comparable-vehicle experience meeting one of these alternatives: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Previous-employer drug and alcohol verification for the last 3 years is included in the required background and motor vehicle check.

Deliver freight solo to destinations east of Kansas.

Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
